RW - "hate propoganda" is the reason there's "far less publicity about the original UN report" -- because that's what it was.
Seems to me an "Equivalence Price" should be paid for an abortion --- sterilization.
"Protect individuals right to life"?????? No, it would grant new, government mandated monetary advantage to a few, and disadvantage to most. And what it would do for healthcare for everyone is another whole discussion. (I suspect you are young and haven't yet learned that government cannot run ANY social program effectively and/or efficiently.)
So then, unter, do you think think the Obamacare Mandate "protects individual rights"??? (Your words....)
I certainly agree with the first half of your sentence! In the second half, replace "solve" with "exacerbate", and I'll go along with the entire statement.
uh, what was the "sordid mess free market types created in the first place"? Everybody notices, Frank, that you fail to mention government interference in the "free" markets.
Ah, such compassion, Mike! Between your statement, "some of us just work hard at a skill and put misplaced trust in others.", and Sowell's statement, "[Politicians] 'saving' one set of people increases the chances of getting those people's votes.", pretty much explains not only why liberalism exists, but also why it produces such abject policy failures.

The dems, remember, still haven't spent most of the stimulus money. Any chance they'll be using that money to buy elections with local "stimulus" projects?

Thank you, Mr. Sowell. To expound on a few of your random thoughts....
I believe in the "give a man a hammer and he will find things to pound" principle as it applies to congress. Give someone the title of Senator or Representative, and they're going to propose laws, whether necessary or not.
I submit that our government was so well designed that the country matured quickly to the point that Congress isn't NEEDED on a continuous basis anymore. A lot of ills would be cured if Congress convened only once every few years to set a budget and to consider only issues deemed most important by the voters.
