Mmm-huh. And the Catholic church was all gung-ho for Obamacare until that pesky mandate thing slapped them in the face regarding contraception (and abortifacients) and then the Catholic church immediately started crying about--and rightfully so--religious freedom. When will the Catholic leadership get a clue that anything that comes from the government threatens their ability to worship God in the way that they choose and that eschewing government interference and subsidy is their duty? The Church--Catholic and Protestant--has a long history of providing for the poor without getting government funds--let's keep it that way.

A point I have been making all day. The Catholic Church has morphed caring for the poor....our brother's keeper into it's the government job to subsidize Catholic Charities. Now they find themselves in conflict with the government..... very reason they should never have jumped into bed with the Federal gov. in the first place....the government sorta owns them now, and when the government owns you, they can tell you what to do.

It’s the ultimate in Catholic double standards: a website called www.PrayForPaulsChangeOfHeart.org launched this week, calling for Catholics to pray that he abandons his Path to Prosperity budget in favor of something more in line with the Church’s social justice teachings. If you click around, you can also find a page with one sentence requesting prayers for Vice President Joe Biden, noted adamant supporter of the pro-choice cause. (It says nothing of Kathleen Sebelius, whose Mass attendance doesn’t exactly jive with her record of eschewing established Catholic doctrine.)

In condemning Ryan’s budget, the site pulls from the U.S....
