There was starvation in China prior to Mao. Mao's inclination to murder his own people was not due to his communist bent; it was just his personality. Hitler was like that and he hated communism. The trouble with communism is that parts of it seem agreeable to people once you forget about the natural tendency of humans is to be lazy and grabby.

Actually, if it’s possible, he should be fired twice: once because he’s a scoundrel and another time because he’s a fool.
