...gas operated, air cooled, semi-automatic shoulder weapon, if I remember after 60 years.

You don't think 7.62 x 51 can achieve 2650 fps at 200 yds?

HAROLD...you win the PRIZE! It is indeed John Cantius Garand's Finest invention! It is the standard M-1...not the M-1A. The official designation usually goes "Rifle, .30 caliber"

Good morning, Harold133.
The Garand is designated .30 gov''t '06, if I remember correctly. Metric designation is 7.62 x 63, MV 2950 with 150 grain civilian ammo, usually referred to as .30/06. Springfield.

7.62 x 51 is available, as you note, in the M1A, M14, also the FN Fal, H&K, Cetme, AR-10, and assorted clones. The civilian designation is .308 Winchester.

SugarLand LOL!! See if you can deduce which weapon THIS ammo fits. " 150 gr. FMJ, 2650 f.p.s. at 200 yards, impact at 2700 Ft. Lbs.
