A Political Glossary

How can anyone in America put forth every effort to provide for themselves when there are so many government resources available to put off earning a living? Between unemployment, food stamps, subsidized housing, school breakfast/lunch/dinner programs, etc., no one has to earn what they need to survive. They can spend their money on what they want rather than on what they need. I believe Dr. Sowell is saying that, given the choice to eat or not eat, he would take ANY job he could find. He couldn't wait three months to find a job he liked because his stomach wouldn't allow it.
