What folks like Stengel don't get when they suggest we have "Progressed past" the Constitution and rattle off events that have occurred or new inventions is that although yes we do progress, and yes new "stuff" is created, human beings remain the same, as King Solomon said there is no new thing under the sun, not really, maybe a new reimagining of it, but the concepts aren't new. What the Constitution does and does brilliantly is that it recognizes the inherent problems in Government and in relationships, because that is what Government is supposed to be about, creating a framework of how we can relate to each other in a society, it isn't about getting "stuff" from the Government, the Constitution gives us a way to manage those various...
Osama Bin Leaded is simply put a putz, I would waste an iota of my intellect even thinking about what he does or does not say, like pretty much all libs he lives in Alice's Looking glass, or behind it along with the March Hare and the Mad Hatter. personally I he and the Red Queen would make a great pair, although she might not care for him either and give him a really bad haircut....way too close for comfort if you get me. Put him on permanent ignore and spend time on people who actually tell the truth about who they are, and have cogent, and more compact arguments than that twit.

To understand Obama's "policy" on Libya you have to know how he came to it. The major players in the Administration had a long and stress filled game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, and the person who won, Hillary Clinton, made the choice to go in and attack. Since Obama was irritated that she won (he says she cheated) he only has been willing to go in a limited fashion, I guess they will have to have another game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to figure out an exit strategy...either that or when we elect someone with a brain to replace Obama in a little over a year we will have someone with the backbone to actually make a good well considered decision and he or she will make an exit strategy, probably along the lines of Richard Nixon and Vietnam,...
This action in Libya, if we continue on the path Obama has set out, will, unlike Afghanistan and Iraq, lead to another "Vietnam" like war. Open ended, no real goal, changing priorities in it, and if we overturn Ghaddafi with France, who by the way also started Vietnam, we will also have a very serious insurgency problem. With Iraq it was bad but it never was the same type of war as Vietnam for a host of reasons. Main among them was the fact that the "insurgency" there was not in fact an insurgency, it was non Iraqi militants from Al Qaeda and other extremist organization there spoiling for a fight, bad but not the same. Because they were outsiders we had Iraqi's start to out them, we also had a clearly defined goal, and we effectively...

This Time, Don't Betray the Rebels

Although I have zero problems with whacking Ghaddafi I have to point out that for years now the lame stream media has called Iraq and Afghanistan "Vietnam" even though the parallels between them are tenuous at best. Somehow I doubt that we will hear the same being said of Libya should we get drawn in deeper by the French who if memory serves did something similar in a little Asian Country called Vietnam. There are obvious differences but on the whole there is much more in common with Libya than Iraq or Afghanistan with Vietnam. I am betting that we will see much more in common as we go on, this is going to be bad. I wish the rebels well, I just don't think that getting involved as we have in the manner we have with no clear strategy, or...

Why Gingrich Can't Win

Obama is a demagogue and I believe he won, Reagan was a demagogue I am also pretty sure he won too. Being a demagogue isn't necessarily a bad thing, it depends upon which issues one is passionate about, if what they stand for is something that tickles the electorates fancy they will be elected, if they stand for things which don't they won't, look at Pat Buchanan, he is a demagogue, he lost not because of his being one but because he offended a whole lot of people by what he stood for. A demagogue is one who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than rational argument, which if memory serves is exactly what elects Presidents nowadays, emotional pleas, not rational argument. A demagogue might be rational,...

While I don't know if Newt can win the election or not I would like to point out that Demagogues do in fact often win, for example Teddy Roosevelt, or for another his Cousin Franklin D. Roosevelt, both demagogues, and both big time winners. I can cite others, in actuality it almost a necessary trait to be elected to the office of President in fact.

These "teachers" are teaching their students on these field trips, however what they are teaching them isn't something I would call good. They are teaching them to be thugs, they are teaching them that they through the use of loud noise can get whatever they want by manipulating the press and playing the system. The sad thing is these kids are fast learners and like most kids will implement what they learn on these field trips to our grief as a society. These "educators" have a much different goal in what they teach than we do, they are more interested in fomenting the "revolution" by using the energy of people like these kids than in actually teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic. The system is broken and the only way to mend the...

As someone who has suffered from the other side of the issue, one who was injured through no fault of my own and due to a serious and flagrant disregard of safety regulations which the other side admitted to in court, but for whom the jury decided I did not deserve any compensation because and I quote, "the abuse of law suits trying to squeeze money out of Companies" and the fact it was in deed a company town. The reason a good many people are messed over now is because of the abuse of the system, there are people who actually do deserve some compensation but get none. In my case, the company I was suing broke into my home and bugged it, had my computer hacked (the FBI was involved in the case), tryed to get as close to running me over...
What the Republicans did under Mitch McConnell with regards to this treaty is at best shameful and at worst almost treasonous. Our representatives in D.C. swear an oath when they enter office, that oath requires them to defend this Country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It is an oath they have broken, we expect that from liberals, not from Conservatives. Shame on them. "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office...
