I have a better, conservative approach to immigration reform: enforce the law. That's it.
Bill O'Reilly is a moron. If he wanted to say that a secular argument is likely to be more persuasive, fine, and he even said as much for part of his segment. Where it gets to be idiotic from O'Reilly is when he says that you "can't" use the Bible, and insists that it has to be private beliefs which evidently have nothing to do with public policy. Sorry, but conviction motivates action Bill, and the use of the term "thumping" makes Christians out to be unthinking buffoons.
FYI, regarding the authors I find particularly the Romney advisor and Barbour relative troubling. The reasons for concern over the Romney advisor should be obvious (his campaign's debate prepper was Rob Portman who has come out for gay marriage, one of his advisors said he was an etch-a-sketch, another praised Romneycare, and of course Romney had his own 47% remarks, liking being able to fire people, saying Chick-fil-A voters weren't part of his campaign, severely conservative, etc) Henry Barbour is the nephew of Haley Barbour. Haley has said in the past that we need to stop talking about abortion (but he has been more than happy to make racially inflammatory remarks about blacks and watermelons as well as the Confederate flag).
Thank you Douglas MacKinnon! I agree wholeheartedly! Also, I can answer one of the questions you raise. "Who ordered and wrote this compromised RNC report?" From Crystal Wright's column a couple of days ago, the authors are: "Ari Fleisher, former spokesperson for President George W. Bush; Sally Bradshaw, campaign consultant to Mitt Romney and chief advisor to Governor Jeb Bush for over a decade; Henry Barbour, nephew of Governor and former RNC Chairman Haley Barbour; RNC Committeeman Glenn McCall and Committeewoman Zori Fonalledas."

What We Learned in Iraq

"Despite our success in removing Saddam Hussein from power, the Iraq war stands as the nation's most grievous foreign policy blunder since Vietnam." Not really. A murderous dictator is gone, and a democracy stands in its place. I can't say that bothers me.
"First of all, I hope any and all concerns that Paul Ryan isn’t ready for the big show were put to rest during the last election cycle." They weren't. 1.) Biden may have been a jerk, but Ryan lost the debate with him. 2.) Ryan did nothing for or against the ticket. He doesn't inspire, and isn't good at retail politics 3.) Ryan has never been forced to speak at length about non-economic issues OMB directory or Treasury Secretary sure, but POTUS? I don't think so.
"It seems like once again the ACU has taken a bold step to make some serious policy statements. As someone who has attended the conference for many years now it seems a bit odd that the ACU is not being so inclusive. I was always under the impression that CPAC was meant to include all parts of the conservative movement, whether we all agree or not." 1.) It first requires that you invite conservatives (Christie and GOProud don't qualify). 2.) CPAC is completely wrong on policy when it comes to illegal immigration, and amnesty is not a conservative position. When it comes to that issue, they've screwed up.

"Enough with the internal expulsions, name-calling, bans and retaliatory boycotts." No, we need more. Enough of the socially liberal, fiscally conservative garbage. Burn them alive.

"You may not love the guy; hell, you might not even like him -- but how on earth does it make sense to tell him to get lost?" When the guy says he agrees with Cuomo on 98% of the issues, people tend not to like folks like that. He won't be at CPAC, and that's just fine.
And so, Mr. Doherty finally starts waking up. Huzzah!
