Obama may indeed not have known SPECIFICALLY who would replace Qaddafi, but I think that he had a GENERAL idea of who/what would most likely replace Qaddafi, and I firmly believe it was exactly who he WANTED to see replace Qaddafi: Islamists. As part of his campaign to undermine the security of Israel AND the West in general.

Getting rid of brutal dictators is a thankless job at best for the U.S.

After we get rid of people like Hussein and Qaddafi we become the perfect scapegoat if anything goes wrong. While receiving none of the credit.

We became the enemy of Iran years ago (leading to the hostage crisis) because we stuck our nose in their business by bringing the Shah to power.

As Eliana Johnson points out over at NRO, this morning, David Axelrod continued to throw Hillary Clinton and the State Department under the bus, doubling down on the story that Joe Biden's royal "we" at the veep debate referred only to a party of two -- himself and the President -- not knowing about the requests for enhanced security In Libya. Apparently, in the Obama presidency, the buck doesn't stop with the President . . . it stops with, in Axelrod's words, "the security folks at the State Department." 

What Biden and Axelrod are essentially saying is that Hillary Clinton...
