If Romney opposes these cuts why would he choose as his running mate someone who supports them and wants to go further by privatizing Medicare?

The plan that Ryan worked out with Democrat Ron Wyden does not call for privatizing Medicare. It calls for giving people the OPTION of a privatized plan or the conventional Medicare plan. And nothing would change for those already on Medicare or over 55.

Because Romney, like anyone else with common sense, understands what the trustees who actually manage medicare have said: "Medicare will be broke by 2024 without major reform".

Appearing on NBC's Meet the Press, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow couldn't defend $700 billion in cuts made by the Obama administration to Medicare in order to pay for ObamaCare. When pressed on the issue, the only argument she had was, "I'm not running for anything."

Maddow isn't the only progressive to use the, "I'm not running for anything," argument. Harry Reid said the same thing when he was asked whether he would release his tax returns after demanding Mitt Romney do so and after accusing Romney of not...
