I notice that John Ransom has held on to his job, unlike many of us, so I forgive him for his Pollyanna view of the current economic state. However, by the definition he himself gave, we are most certainly in a Depression (note the capital D) which is entering its sixth year with no sign of recovery. Those of us who have had need to seek alternate work, usually at a substantial pay cut, can assure him that ALL of the conditions he requires to define a depression remain in full effect, with only deterioration in sight.
