If anyone is curious why Romney isn't considering Rubio, just look at all the posts here. The GOP base is full of nativists who persist in this fantasy that we're going to deport all the illegal aliens. Even children born in this country they want pushed out. If Romney selected Rubio, it could cause a split in the party--maybe even a platform fight. Romney needs to *defuse* the immigration issue, not pick a running mate who will put the focus on it.
