I agree that there are "good versions" of religion -- that is, there are religions that have become LESS RELIGIOUS due to the progress of civilization. The way Christianity was tempered by the Enlightenment is a good example. Christianity even got toned down with the New Testament compared to the Old Testament. Of course, the basic problem with religion is that it doesn't take reality seriously, but tries to substitute the supernatural for the actual.
