A Nation Arms Itself -- For What?

I'm waiting for an American president to say clearly that the sovreignty of the United States, and the constitutionally guatanteed, God-given rights of its citizens aren't negotiable or dispensable to any entity, foreign or domestic for any reason whatsoever. Until then -- 'molon labe'

The answer is: never. Even in extremis before Pilate, he asked nothing of government -- not the Roman hierarchy nor their puppet king, Herod Antilpas. "You have no power over me," He said, "except that which is given you by my Father." What was to be done for the poor, for the indigent, for the sick, was to be done from the heart, out of love for one another, not by force of government. That wasn't charity, and Jesus would not see it as such. That is coercion. 'Thou shalt not steal' is as much a command to governments of men as it is to individuals. The pseudofaithful who argue otherwise are wrong.

The latest Rasmussen poll reports 67% of likely voters believe Obama's opponents are NOT motivated by racism. Your friend doesn't know what they're talking about, and neither, I think do you. When you throw racism into the argument on any level, you've already lost it. And, just for giggles, tell me where Cain has flip-flopped. Better yet, tell me where Obama HASN'T flip-flopped -- well, a better word would be "lied." I'll take Cain over Obama ANY day, and I have no obligation to explain that to you, or to answer your stupid criticism. But, hey -- it was fun doing so.

Ben is absolutely right. Romney is the iceberg that will sink the "Titanic" GOP a year from next month. I would far rather nominate a more principled candidate like Perry or Cain, and go down fighting, then to put another John McCain up there who's either had the fight knocked out of him, or never learned how in the first place.

They should not forget that -- as Isoroku Yamamoto of the Imperial Japanese Navy once warned his nation: "in America there is a rifle behind every blade of grass."
