Katie, your article not entirely accurate. PO is only federal agency that is 100 dependent on revenues. Taxpayers do not pay salaries. PO has been operating in red last 5-6 years due to unreasonable requirements of pre funding future health care for retires well into future. Congress is at fault here as they control revenues and some expenditures through postal regulatory commission. That is as much as I will defend PO because they are extremely top heavy with high management to employee ratio. This is a breeding ground for disgruntled workers who can only watch as management receives bonuses while at the same time watching their pay constantly getting cut. There is much more waste and stupidity to cover here in detail. Bottom line is Congress needs to get out of the way and allow PO to work freely in the open market where for sure their survival or demise will be determined with far greater efficiency.
