Bush had nothing to do with Obama getting elected. Obama got elected because he was to be our first Black President, plain and simple. It "felt good" to be a part of history. And the changing demographics of our society had a part in it too, particularly in Obama's re-election. Bush had his faults for sure, but he was aided and abeted by a Democrat controlled Congress for his last two years and they had him over a barrel. They gave him what he wanted, as long as he gave them what they wanted. And Obama has taken all the issues you list and put them on steroids, in half the time in office.

That certainly seems to be the general consensus on the Left. Consider, for example, this piece by the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein. Responding to Keith Hennessey’s must-read editorial debunking the so-called “Bush is stupid” myth (a contention, I might add, he doesn’t necessarily dispute), Klein had this to say about our 43th president:
