Chief Lansdowne, like some, but IMO not a majority by any means, police chiefs are political appointees and are spoon fed things to say by their appointing powers, city council people and city managers. It's also possible that he is so far removed from the street, that he forgot where he came from. Most police officers support the Second Amendment and do not believe further infringements are warranted. He would be better serving his personnel and the public, by allowing targeted crackdowns on the bad guys in San Diego, of which their are multitudes well known to law enforcement.
