What I Saw in Israel

Star, while I generally love you, Israel was NOT born out of the Holocaust. The modern Zionist movement started a century before, and the Jewish state was promised to the Zionists and the already Jewish majority in Jerusalem in the early parts of the 20th century before World War ONE. It is the Arab narrative, and that of Obama, that claims Israel is the result of some kind of collective guilt. That story makes deligitimzing it all the easier. Don't fall for that.

I was just about to write the same- so many people think that way b/c of all the propaganda they have been fed- of course enemies of Jews use that to delegitimize Israel saying the AXIS should have given their lands. Mostof Israel populations are NOT Ashkenazi Jews form EU- they fled from Islamonazis--

Why don't Jews have "right of return" 800,000 of them were expelled from Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, ancestral lands unpaid for, confiscated their money and businesses, synagogues burned and holy places destroyed

A bigger question Why shouldn't they return to the land GOD ALMIGHTY gave them 3000 years ago?

One of the great "asymmetries" of the Middle East is that all those Mizrahim whose forefathers had lived in the Maghreb, Iraq, Syria, and Egypt before a word of Arabic was ever heard in them are now no-questions-asked Israelis, while outside of Jordan, the Palesitne Arab refugees remain stateless down to the 4th and 5th generation.

Arab governments inflame their streets against us over the plight of the Falastin refugees, but our own USA has given passport-holding, voting rights citizenship to more offspring of An-Nakhbar than any seven Arabic-speaking states put together, Jordan and Israel excluded. Even the PA wants to deny full citizenship to families that originated in pre-1967 Israeli territory.

Yet, somewhow, Israel is the bad guy

"It is the Arab narrative, and that of Obama, that claims Israel is the result of some kind of collective guilt."

Pretty remarkable coincidence that it came to be in 1947, then, nu?

What is "remarkable"is that you can walk and breath at the same time given your level of stupidity and ignorance

RW6 - No question the horrors of the Holocaust underlined the need for refuge for Jews where they could defend themselves. But Stephen is quite correct. By 1947, some 600,000 Jews from all over the planet were living in British Mandatory Palestine. The Jews had prayed for 2000 years for this return, which will only be complete when the Temple is rebuilt. Jews still pray, thrice daily, for that.

As President Obama prepares for his first trip to Israel, I hope when he gets there he sees what I saw.

Several weeks ago I returned from my first trip to Israel. I went with a delegation headed by Governor Mike Huckabee, who visits Israel at least once every year.

What did I see?

I saw kids, no more than 18 years old, walking down the street, waiting at bus stops, wearing Army green khakis, and carrying machine guns on their backs. One young girl was as black skinned as me.
