I do not understand the partisan divide on this issue. In addition to the blatant misinformation about what Clemens did - ALL of the drugs involved are controlled substances under US law. Steroids themselves are fully illegal. They cannot even be produced in the United States. Testosterone can only be prescribed for low testosterone and ONLY to bring you back to normal levels - many times below performing enhancing levels. Growth hormone is also illegal for anything BUT low growth hormone. And is INCREDIBLY dangerous at performing enhancing levels (as opposed to prescriptive levels). And while these drugs have VERY legitimate uses, particularly in anti aging medicine, again, this is NOT performing enhancing levels.

Eric Holder’s incompetent team of legal minds has botched things up again.

Roger Clemens is in a fight for his life, and his enemies are fierce, partisan and patently unfair. His alleged crime—making false statements to Henry Waxman in a congressional hearing-- has cost the American taxpayer tens of millions of dollars, all because in 2008, during an election year, Henry Waxman needed a high profile hearing to showboat, to garner as much publicity as possible, to allow him to bang his gavel, to feel superior, to peacock around.
