Well lets face it Mr Sowell, these jokers cut themselves lifetime golden parachutes, exempt themselves from everything they throw down on we the people, healthcare for instance. Lifetime pay on retirement or kicked out of office, get serious. Two terms, no more than that, go back to what you were doing before Congress, no lifetime retirement on the taxpayer dollar. What an insult to we the people this piece of work is.

Agreed. There should be no pensions of any kind for Congressmen. There are two of the 535 who agree with this, and refuse to participate, even though they are giving up millions of dollars. They refuse to sell their souls. One is Howard Coble of North Carolina. The other is, unsurprisingly, Ron Paul of Texas.
Now that the National Football League has apparently learned that it can be costly to hire cheap officials, perhaps the rest of us should learn the same lesson when it comes to government officials, whose bad calls can do a lot more damage.
