"The Law is for Thee, not for Me." Unidentified dictator
There seems to be a bit of a disconnect in some circles. Some people appear to believe that if Gregory is arrested for this violation under these nebulous circumstances, that it would be an unusual event. That police do not regularly engage in such arrests. The tragedy is that the D.C. police force, like many others, routinely arrests and jails good citizens under nebulous circumstances. Which is just fine with certain activists and politicians. If Gregory is not arrested, it will be because the district attorney chose to treat him differently than others. A link to just a few tragic stories among many. http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/guns/2012/jul/1/miller-dc-arrests-vet-arrested-unregistered-ammuni/
I doubt you're being serious, but I'll play a little. My comment is quite narrow. The anchor did not back up his point with the violent crime rate. My comment says nothing more. Obviously violent crime is not irrelevant. The category is irrelevant or at the least quite incomplete regarding the anchor's point. Second, I wrote homicides -- which obviously means ALL homicides. That's the way it is with a word like homicides.
All due respect to the anchor, the argument is not that less guns means less crime. It's that less guns means less homicides. He has to give the murder rate of various countries, not the violent crime rate. Even if you oppose gun control, the argument is that a crime is less likely to result in death if there are less guns. The violent crime rate is irrelevant.
