Nobody is forcing anybody to send their kids to public school and receive a govt. handout. If you want to spend $6,500-$10,000 per year to send your kids to private school, have at it. Otherwise, enjoy the $10,615 per year, per child you receive from the government to educate your kids for 13 years. Since 47% of you pay no income tax, I am guessing the typical family of 4 isn't paying $21,000 in taxes per year toward education. If they made that kind of money, their kids would be in private school.

srkeegan-In Texas the schools are funded by property taxes. I pay over $7K per year in property taxes and I don't send my kid to public school, so I AM being forced to pay for other people's kids to go to the government school.

Nullify, try to understand that the taxes you personally pay do not cover the cost of one kid going to public school unless you are among the top 10% of earners. The amount you are short is made up by other tax payers subsidizing your child. Chances are, you aren't even paying $500 per year, per kid because obviously your taxes go for other things than just schools.

Nullify-You're right. I don't get any break in my property taxes for sending my own to a private school, but the illegal alien down the road has 6 kids in public school, rents a mobile home and therefore, pays very little in property taxes and sends all of his to school even though he's not even an American.

But we are being forced to pay for other peoples kids to go to school PLUS pay for our own if they go to private school or are home schooled.

It's criminal.

srkeegan-As a matter of fact, I do send mine to a private school, but the publci school here doesn't spend anywhere near $10K per child. Private schools do a much better job for a lot less per child. And I pay plenty in taxes. I don't get any government handouts.
In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations.

Perhaps the real motive is to starve students into slimming down. Just ask students in Pierre, South Dakota who, too, are in an all-out revolt.
