How Liberals Argue: Food Stamps Stimulate the Economy

If it's so good at stimulating economic activity, then clearly, *everyone* should quit their jobs and get food stamps and unemployment, and the economy will skyrocket - right? I just wonder if their estimates of economic activity include the common practice of bartering food stamps for other things - for example, the woman who cuts my hair tells me that she frequently gets requests to accept payment via EBT card for hair coloring, etc. Food stamps are a fine idea for those who need it - unfortunately, the definition of "need" has become distorted - I don't know why people who live in better houses, drive better cars, and/or own better phones than I do should get food stamps, while I pay 5-figure income taxes.

Every Thursday morning I go on the Jon Justice show in Southern Arizona. Today, I made a comment about the glorification of food stamps and apparently that sparked a deluge of calls like the one below in which the caller argues welfare stimulates the economy.

Considering Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi thinks the same way, I'm not surprised.

"It's the biggest bang for the buck."
