Time to Temper the Political Discourse

After last night's elections this is no longer a world in which I choose to live, and I pity all you religionists for not feeling free to make the same choice. ("Suicide is a 'sin,'" woo-hoo.) Frack "voting with your feet," it's now time for many of us to vote with our LIVES. The evil which has overtaken this country (yes, atheists like me believe in evil too!) simply will not react to anything else. Nothing less than mass suicides will open the eyes of our children and grandchildren. And even if it doesn't, at least we suicides ourselves will not have to endure the next 30, 40, 50 years of our lives in mourning for the Great American Experiment.
Well, HAVE you served? I thought not. -- Spike, military wife
Charles: Then you must be familiar only with the outliers of this industry, because my experience (see post above) and that of several colleagues in several different states was entirely different. Nobody was wearing scrubs; they didn't even PRETEND to be medical; the CERTAINLY didn't pretend to be financially charitable (before a birth or after); the entirety of their "services" consist of making you watch a highly emotional video and then screaming at you for a couple of hours. How very compassionate and Christian of them.
"Women, BY A SLIM MARGIN, are considered to be human"?! SHAME ON YOU!!!!! I suppose you'd rather kill the mother -- only "marginally human," after all -- and keep the fetus. Oh, unless the fetus is female, of course. Can't have all those "marginal" types cluttering up the planet, right?
Gary, you're not the first to point this out, and you surely won't be the last. I highly recommend the article "What Is Racism?" (link below), which is every bit as true today as when it was written in 1991. If anything, the situation has gotten WORSE. http://www.amren.com/ar/pdfs/1991/199107ar.pdf

Grant: GOOD POINT! I hadn't thought of that. So I CAN cast my presidential vote for Johnson, then vote the rest of the California ticket straight Republican, without racking my conscience about "helping Obama along." Dang. You just made my day :)

Rondoman: You mean how the Earth was created in LITERALLY only seven days, 6,000 years ago? Puh-LEEZ.

...and I'm sure I'm not the only atheist conservative here (although probably the most outspoken one).
I am SO disappointed to hear this about the author of the excellent book, "The Language Police." I would never have expected that this drivel and the excellent points made in that book could possibly emanate from the same mind. Live and learn :(
David, is it "discriminatory" to allow law-abiding adults to vote, but deny that privilege to convicted felons? Societies throughout history have incentivized what they want more of and disincentivized what they want less of. Surely you're not suggesting that we actively WANT more homosexuals...? then why incentivize them?!
