Enacting mandatory E-Verify would do the most to work down the number of illegals here. It would have a huge effect on this so-called problem. But as Hawkins says, the Republicans have never been on board with solving the problem for the American people; they're obsessed with giving the lawbreakers amnesty. I do think, though, that it's not only Rove and his cohorts that are responsible for this. No one, save NumbersUSA,etc. has been talking this up. Conservative pundits and FOX have ignored it. And "true" conservatives have fallen all over Rubio, giving him a pass for his absolutely unforgiveable actions, beginning in the Florida legislature. This should have been taken up a long time ago, and by the voters. Now, we're doomed.

The only answer anyone ever seems to be able to offer to that question these days is, "Because the Democrats are worse." However, the problem with being the lesser of two evils is that you're still an evil.
