I sure wish someone who doesn't know the difference between a strong man argument and a straw man argument would quit claiming that everyone else is ignorant.

Yeah, Corbett, Lets draw the line of defense at the Alleghenies.

DB07 -- In Tripoli, we were defending AMERICANS against attack. In Korea, we certainly are not defending Americans. Nor in Japan, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia...

Gator -- You need to go take a logic class. You are building straw men without straw.

We have not said ANYTHING in favor of Obama and his amnesty. We have both indicated that we believe we need our borders defended. Yet you claim that we are FOR amnesty. You are a fool.

And yet, Vicky, wasn't our first military move after the revolution an action against Tripoli? Military power means more than just defending borders....and always has.
VickyD4Liberty Wrote: Jun 20, 2012 12:02 PM
Why do you think we would want the borders defended? You make an ignorant statement because I don't fall under your 'conservative' war mongering ideal so that means I'm a democrat. We need to defend our borders because that's how you truly defend territory. Not abroad, not fighting other nations in never ending wars and then setting up bases there permanently. This would also prevent border hoppers from doing just that, while boosting our economy through our troops spending money here, not abroad. Why don't you do some research on the history of military strength in this country, find out when it grew so exponentially, why, and what has come as a result.

OMG! Now you're comparing reality with a ... GAME? Go back to school and this time get an education, not a brain-washing!

We can stop defending our competitors for one thing. The Koreans can afford to defend themselves. Instead, the US taxpayers pick up a large part of the tab for their defense while Korea undercuts our prices.

I'm for free trade & I don't blame the Koreans one damned but for taking advantage of our stupidity. But we cannot afford to be stupid anymore. And the Koreans are just the tip of the iceberg. There is all of Europe, Japan, much of the Middle East, Taiwan, etc.

It is time we kick the freeloaders off the defense gravy train and look out for the US.

By defending our borders, particularly to the south. Don't you find it strange that we would fight a 'war on terror', with completely open borders? Doesn't that sound irresponsibly dangerous to you? Anyone who has played the game Risk knows that you don't defend one territory with you military strength in another.

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

Many people may have voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because of his charisma. But anyone familiar with the disastrous track record of charismatic political leaders around the world in the 20th century should have run for the hills when they encountered a politician with charisma.

What is scarier than any particular political policy or issue is the widespread tendency to treat political issues as personal contests in talking points -- competitive skill in fencing with words -- rather than as serious attempts to find out what the facts are and what the options are.
