Education should not be left to any government unless there is a healthy dose of competition for students and the money that comes with them.

SR - This is the age of High Tech... not the 18th or 19th century when home-schooling was more applicable. Most parents today have neither the time nor required skills to home-school a child much beyond 6th grade... especially in physics, chemistry and mathematics beyond basic arithmetic.

If teachers were paid vastly greater amounts such would result in little to no improvement while the elevated taxes could be afforded by few. The reason is that many children are so extensively damaged by age six due to experiencing dysfunctional parents that most can not become educated. There are exception.. of course. However, they are rare and involve only those with sufficient innate talent. Beyond this there are no exceptions....

The federal government should stay out of education and leave it to the locals to run their schools. Local school boards did a much better job. You can trace the decline in the schools to more and more federal interference.

Dr. Ben Carson, the man who spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast and made major news for speaking against Obama's class warfare policies and about the healthcare system, critiqued President Obama's State of the Union address this morning on Fox and Friends.

"You've got to realize that you're the president of everybody."
