I had a battery-powered lawnmower a few years ago. It would only do about 1/3 of my 1/2 acre of grass before needing to recharge. I'm sure there are better batteries today, but you'd still have a hard time, given the higher power requirements of lawn equipment. They make mobility scooters with decent mileage range, but those don't have cutting blade and such attached, which sucks up a lot of energy. I am a fan of battery-powered equipment, since it tends to be quieter (would be a blessing on weekend mornings, for sure) and has fewer moving parts to maintain, but we still have a ways to go in battery development before it can truly replace gas-powered engines for all applications.

What Ransom, pretty much alone, seems to have missed is that the Democrats don't have to vote for a tax hike bill. The Republicans voted for one 12 years ago (extended by a compromise for two years) and it will go into effect in January. The Democrats only plan on passing...
