My wife's family is from Mexico. If anyone thinks that the GOP supporting amnesty or even softening their stance on immigration will all of the sudden make them vote Republican, they are delusional. The misconception that Latino voters are so one dementional and single issue focused is why the GOP will continue to lose their vote. If you don't know people on a large scale at a personal level, you won't figure out their politics. "Outreach" may have some small effect, John, but consider why you have to "reach out": your party and its base are not naturally embedded within these communities like Democrats are. Fair or not, the GOP is seen as the party of white people and a few pro immigration policies won't change that.
Republicans who support amnesty are like global warming alarmists. They can't answer the most basic questions about what they believe. Since the Republican Party is now once again considering going to war with itself over amnesty instead of trying to move the ball forward for conservatism, it seems like a good time to ask some of the crucial questions that always seem to be conspicuously ignored because the pro-amnesty side has no answers.
1) How many net votes would the GOP lose if illegal immigrants become citizens? Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney 73% to 27% with Hispanic...
Consider that we have spent > $16 TRILLION to date on poverty programs...and what is the amount of our deficit?!
But surely, we must have "eliminated poverty in our time"...NOT!
Yep, it's pretty amazing how much white people have accomplished when you compare white countries to the rest of the world. I attribute it to the culture, not the color of the skin.
