I think Joe Biden's strategy was to rattle Paul Ryan - get under his skin, make him loose his temper. If so, he failed; Ryan came across as even tempered. Biden, on the other hand, was rude, disruptive, and constantly mugging for the audience, like your drunk Irish uncle trying to act cute.
