So it would seem that the Government can now order the death of anyone, Americans included, on the suspicion that they may have thought about commiting a terrorist act. Not that they did, not that there was evidence that they were about to, but on suspicion that they might do something sometime in the future. After all, they didn't present evidence to the Government that they weren't thinking about commiting terrorism later in life. And, rather than apply due process to American Citizens, Government officials skip the whole trial and evidence thing and jump straight to the execution. This is currently applied to Al Qa'ida associates abroad, but it really is a short walk from there to killing Americans here at home.

no, not really.

Seems you're a bit squeamish at killing terrorists.

REALLY! because this was an American CITIZEN who was DENIED his DUE PROCESS

just like the 16 year old BOY in NC who was KIDNAPPED from his HOME by ARMED gubmint stormtroopers who put guns to the heads of his MOTHER and two younger SISTERS

again a SPOKESMAN vs someone who actually harmed others?

you are blinded

Oh, no. If somebody is an actual, bona fide terrorist and we can take them out, then by all means. However, this memo goes the extra mile - people who have not commit an act of terrorism can now be killed on suspicion that they may have been planning to do so sometime in the future. You aren't ordering their death for something they did - it's for something you think they think they might do.

Also, it is being applied to American citizens in direct violation of their Constitutional rights.
A leaked memo from the Department of Justice lays out the explicit justifications that the Obama Administration believes authorizes the targeted assassination of American citizens on foreign soil.

NBC News obtained and reported on the memo last night, which explains that drone strikes that have been conducted in the past that have killed American citizens are legitimate and legal operations.

[A]n “informed, high-level” official of the U.S. government may determine that the targeted American has been “recently” involved in “activities” posing a threat of a violent attack and “there is no evidence suggesting that...
