For the record... I do not agree with your blatently racist "white majority" comment Carl. Conservatives do not care what color anyone's skin is. I dio not care if there is a "White majority". What I want is a population that values liberty and the constitution. Your dream of a 3rd party sounds alot like the Nazi Party. Their track record is not a good one.

Any religion, including Christianity, can be retrofitted to the needs of a particular culture. That blacks tend to be nominally Christian doesn't mean they won't use their faith to rationalize sticking it to whitey. Al Sharpton and Jessse Jackson are ordained Christian ministers. So what? Would you trust them to run this country?

Every nation in the world takes into account ethnicity in their immigration policies. Do you think Japan, Ireland, Poland or Israel are any different? If anything, they are far more restrictive than the U.S. I, too, value liberty. Unfortunately, a great many immigrants, especially from Third World countries, don't. They come to steal the American Dream more than live it. Only a complete naif believes that nations have no innate cultural differences, only "values."

By the way, I detest Nazism.

"Blacks and hispanics as a group should be a natural constituency (because of their largely Christian beliefs) for conservatism ...'

Too bad they vote the "Hate Whitey" vote.

I don't disagree with many of your sentiments but it should not be an issue of "racial purity" ... it is a battle of IDEAS. Blacks and hispanics as a group should be a natural constituency (because of their largely Christian beliefs) for conservatism ... liberty, freedom, e plurbus unum, In God We Trust, etc.. The problem is they are greeted by smiling liberals preaching to them that government entitlement is the way to pursue happiness. Alternately they see people calling themselves conservative giving them the finger and talking about a "white majority". If you were in their position which side would you choose. When you speak in the language of Nazis (i.e. "white majority") it is no surprize that a majority of non-whites disagree.

And what minorities are advocating for liberty and constitutional fidelity? The surest way to lose both is to import a foreign element hostile to American traditions, which is the motivation behind the 1965 immigration reforms.

If you don't wish to conserve the historic people of the land, you are definitely not a conservative.

The most important factor in a nation's quality of life is the character of its people. Inundate America with the population of a banana republic and we'll be a banana republic. But keep feeling righteous over those evil "racists" who don't care to suffer the gangs, crime, failing schools, graffitied neighborhoods, and rotten government that accompany the Third World colonization of this nation.

First, a terrific compendium of think tank analyses of immigration compiled by the wizards at FindGravitas.com is here.

If you are going to debate immigration reform, be smart about immigration reform, especially about the positions of the opposite party's intellectuals.

This means among other things being smart about school choice for immigrant children. Vouchers for newly regularized immigrants under the age of 18 empowering them to attend any public or private school in the city in which they reside should be part of the GOP amendments to any immigration reform bill. The cost of such a voucher is...
