Seriously Ranma? It was a GOP primary!! At least the Republicans in CA are smart enough to know rabid anti-immigration candidates won't win a general election in CA. It may feel great to rant about illegals but you'll make the GOP lose AGAIN in 2016.

The people have spoken?? Settle down Ann. It's one congressional district and it's a primary and democrats may well have even meddled in the vote. I wouldn't call that a gage of the American people. Hold off doing cartwheels until November. I didn't see Ann celebrating the anti-amnesty guy in the California governor primary. Oh, that's right - he lost.

12 Unspoken Rules For Being A Liberal

I would add one more. It's related to #4. Liberals take everything for granted. They take our Constitutional freedoms for granted. They don't appreciate what it took to gain them. They are free to condemn the military and military action and take for granted all the blood that has been spilled gaining and preserving those freedoms. They don't understand how central Judeo-Christian values are to our freedoms and the foundation of our Constitution and instead routinely attack those values. They take for granted the hard work and principles of self-reliance that built this country. They are very good at undermining institutions like marriage and the Boy Scouts. They take for granted how central to our civilization marriage has been and assume they can tamper with it without repercussions. Heck, they even take for granted the Universe. It's a quaint, provincial superstition to believe God created it. I could go on and on.
I have Irish roots myself. Maybe that's why I have deep sympathy for those who come here trying to make a better life for their family. The welfare state is the real problem.
I believe most immigrants come here with the same attitude. The real problem is the "safety nets."
I can't imagine how badly those pesky Irish immigrants suppressed wages in the 19th Century. What happened to "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"?
I wish Ann would go back and read her own piece about "abortion badasses" Akin and Mourdock and apply the exact same reasoning to immigration zealots. The GOP has to stop being perceived as self righteous, intransigent, ideologues who are hostile to Latinos. Intelligent minds can disagree on the immigration issue, but when you start calling members of your own party stupid and throw around labels like Rino with a sneer you look like the angry party. A far cry from the cheerful optimistic inclusive kind party of Reagan.
If the GOP dies it won't be from immigration reform. It will be because of all the infighting and name calling and self-righteousness. You don't see Dems calling other Dems names like DINO, let alone stupid. Ann isn't helping. It's a shame. I always liked her.
I understand disagreement on this issue although I mostly agree with Rubio's position. I DON'T understand Ann's obsession and hysteria and fear-mongering and name calling of other Republicans.
Ok. So there ARE some stupid Republicans. Excuse me. I'd rather be in the same party as someone like you than in the same party as Obama and Pelosi.
