But what I don't get is America was a free and prosperous country in the 50s, 60s, (some of the) 70s, 80s, 90s with MUCH MUCH MUCH higher taxes than we have now and I don't remember the people saying that we were being crushed by taxes. People still started companies and bought yachts and BMWs back when the top income tax bracket was higher than it is now...
