I particularly agree with your assertion that some scientists are craven enough to essentially prostitute themselves for big research grants and the laudatory media coverage that comes along with supporting the libbies' "government is the answer to all, and must be enlarged" position.
I made the same argument with a tenured liberal professor (to repeat myself) at an expensive private university in Texas. This individual, who found the NYT to be "straight reporting," often excoriated businessmen as willing to simply pillage and devastate the world, leaving their children and grandchildren to a bleak existence, simply in pursuit of a buck.

Businesspeople, however, like those that enabled the construct of that liberal professor's clothes, home, food, computer, car, phone, media sources, air travel system, and the like, are simply prostitutes for a dollar.
