Never pay the same? Oh there are ways but I'd prefer they paid more, much more. We all it Progressive Taxation.

"We all it Progressive Taxation."

Anyone with a brain calls it theft.

I'm just saying that if you want Warren Buffet and his secretary to pay the same rates then you have to change the way that different incomes are taxed. I actually would like to see the FairTax tried.

Flat taxes are regressive. A nice idea though. At 35% it might even work.
Roberty Wrote: Nov 10, 2012 1:51 PM
If you want the rich to pay more just change the tax code so that everyone pays the same rate regardless of the TYPE income that they receive. Our tax code allows different types of income to be taxed differently and all of this "tax inequality" rhetoric is just a form of smoke and mirrors to distract people from seeing the real issues regarding our tax structure.

That was already explained and I'm not going to try to go back thru this thread to find it.

I call it taxes. And everyone in the country pays some sort of tax, even if they just buy a pack of gum. And before you get your panties in a bunch, the red states are the takers. they take in way more in federal dollars than they pay in taxes. Who are the takers again?

Tax reform is a bipartisan goal.

The kid at burger king would pay the same or less on his investment income as anyone else.
He would pay far less on his earned income that anyone else, however. Maybe nothing.
Are you really that dense about taxation?
(I guess that explains the election)

It amounts to nothing if the way our tax system is structured doesn't change. The wealthy will simply hire more tax accountants to find more loopholes and deductions.

You would have been better off with Romney on that point.
