Aren't you thankful that T Jefferson ignored his own advice and consummated the Louisiana Purchase w/o Constitutional Authority? He also built naval ships and fought a war in the Middle East w/o Congressional Authority. The only thing the Jefferson quote illustrates is how often Jefferson said one thing, but obviously believed and did another.

Since the oil flowing through the XL Pipeline will be owned by the likes of ExxonMobil, BP, The Chinese National Oil Company, and others why are you calling it American energy? We won't own a drop of that oil.
Will you be delusional for the entire 8 years of the Obama Presidency? You might save yourself by seeking treatment for your Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS). Maybe you simply cannot accept that the President's intellect is well beyond yours. But you would be better off if you simply accepted reality.
I guess no one has pointed out to you that government is the largest creator of jobs in the U.S., and I'm not talking about government jobs. Go to any shipyard where U.S. Navy ships are maintained and you'll find an Army of workers employed by private industry repairing and maintaining those ships. You're buying the conservative nonsense that government does not create jobs. Another example, the U.S. government owns more vehicles than any other entity on the planet, yet the government does not produce a single vehicle. They are all purchased, or leased from private corporations. How about using commonsense. Look around you, damn near everything you see are items and products, and services purchased by government from private industry.

Go right ahead and ignore the fact that we still do not know how to clean up spills of the dirtiest oil on the planet. Further XL has nothing to do with energy independence. We the U.S. will not own one drop of oil running through that pipeline. The extra-national oil corps that will own the oil have no obligations to U.S. energy markets. A barrel of oil is sold on the international market to the highest bidder. What the XL seeks is access to Gulf Coast ports to permit export of oil that thus far cannot be easily exported.
It would seem that your religious views carry no weigh with our secular State. Btw God also said death to adulterers, death to those who work on the Sabbath, do you agree?According to your views none believers are not bound by anything you say, right?
I'm betting that you define activist judge as a judge who renders an opinion that you do not like. Apparently you're ok with rights being put to a vote, or oppression by the majority. If you don't see the fallacy in your statement that marriage equality already exists you had better take a class in logic.
So what? Just because you have the legal right doesn't mean you have to exercise it.
