Most of the time I agree with Dr. Sowell. This time I vehemently disagree. Our congressmonkeys are already overpaid. Federal judges, ditto. If they are so underpaid, how do so many become rich on the public dime? I think a greater problem is the "politicians for life" we seem to have. Has Bawney Fwank ever not been a politician? Let's just get going with term limits, get rid of all the riff raff.
Now that the National Football League has apparently learned that it can be costly to hire cheap officials, perhaps the rest of us should learn the same lesson when it comes to government officials, whose bad calls can do a lot more damage.
