Now lets expect a Federal bailout so that taxpayers across the country can be saddled with debt to bail out Detroit's problems . With every other large city following the lead, of course. Instead of letting them figure out their own self-imposed mess, and maybe set an example for the rest of the nation to stay away from the politics and policies that caused this disaster.

shroomfind, What you stated is exactly why Michigan has the emergency manager program to step in and turn city messes around BEFORE they turn into a bailout program. Other states should take note. Sad thing is, a lot of people here in Michigan think it's a power grab. Maybe they are liberals upset that Snyder will prevent them from getting that fat federal check from Washington???? Hey America, you wanna buy a piece of Detroit? Well, you are about to. You are already taking a bath on the GM bailout, might as well add Detroit to the package.

The trouble is..... it took a few years to actually get the emergency manager. Everybody EXCEPT Snyder was tiptoeing around the unions and that moronic City Council. (Granholm install an emergency mgr????? are you kidding???)

...and he did it on the day of the sequester.... for a non politico, Rick Snyder is a brilliant politician!!!

Kudos, Rick!!!

Timing is everything... just like Mi. RTW !!!!!!!!

Ditto! Granholm and former-mayor Kilpatrick and his thug relatives and friends finally put a fork into Detroit. Gov. Snyder has the smarts and the guts to do what should have been done decades ago.

Is there a city in the US run by a black democratic mayor that is not in fiscal trouble? For that matter is there any city with a liberal democrat mayor of any color not in trouble?

Michigan’s Rick Snyder has appointed an emergency city manager to do for Detroit what Obama, Biden, the UAW, GM, Chrysler, the city’s council and mayor have not been able to even with a $80 billion bailout of the automotive industry.

“Snyder’s decision comes after a state review team report concluded last week that Detroit is in a financial...
