As to your reference to Passover, God is not celebrated for murdering babies and children. Passover is a celebration of God's mercy, as the Spirit "passed over" all houses with lamb's blood on the door. Everyone was warned ahead of time and told what the consequences would be for disobeying. Those that believed put the lambs blood on the door, those that didn't, their first born son was killed.

This is my interpretation of the Exodus passage where that story is told, but I am no scholar, simply a life long believer (no 'apparent' here...
