"If there were money to be made in green jobs, private investors would be creating them already. In fact, big corporations like General Electric are scrambling to position themselves as green companies, gaming legislation and regulations so they can make profits by doing so. Big business is ready to create green jobs -- if government subsidizes them. But the idea that green jobs will replace all the lost carbon-emitting jobs is magical thinking."

You absolutely nailed it, Michael.

"Righties solution? Don't change a darned thing."

Perhaps you don't know any truth beyond what others have told you, but that statement is "so full of holes, I don't know where to start."

Many proposals concerning healthcare reform have been and continue to be sponsored and cosponsored by republicans in both houses of congress. The majority party has effectively squashed most of them. There are many avenues available to anyone with a computer and internet access for which to review these alternative proposals. Might I suggest attempting more research? Just for starters, try HR3962 and S1099.

Anyway, didn't the "Party of NO" smear lose much of its steam after the bipartisan healthcare summit of a couple of weeks...

this "healthcare reform" legislation, based on common sense and indisputable logic. Thanks for that, Ross.

"A sophisticated rhetorician, inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity."

A fitting quote indeed, but if only the fruit of this madness was simply a leader struggling with his own delusions of grandeur and not a concerted effort by many to forge ahead, regardless of what the people think, for a political power gain that could surely result in bringing serious damage to our country.

I appreciate your commentary on the "summit"last week. So many show ponies in this WH only verifies the confidence they have in their influence on the lamestream media to do their bidding.

i too was taken back at the POTUS rebuking his former opponent. It was completely classless.
I'm not so sure about Obama "poisoning the well for democrats in 2012". 2010 perhaps, we will see. And if there are still any "Reagan dems" out there, OK, I think their support is gone. But as someone else has said, 30 more months until the 2012 presidential election is a lifetime in politics. While presently it may seem that the political damage done by Obama's team and this congress is fatal, by 2012 there could be a different take. He has done much for to brag about (in his view), so if the economy improves by then, he will get and gladly take the credit.

Marie in FL is more than likely correct. Whatever the house is being led
to believe by the WH , it is only a diversion or bait and switch tactic. Once the
senate bill can be passed by the house and signed by the POTUS, the horse will
have left the barn. Game over. Mission accomplished. (Add your own cliché here.)
As far as the subject of the article goes, we
all have always known how things get done "The
Chicago Way". Absolutely nothing will come of this.

Obama vs. Insurers and the People

shedworld Wrote: Mar 05, 2010 10:27 AM
During his summit with the congressional democrats and republicans last week, the president stated that the debate shouldn’t be about “the process “, but rather about “what can be done to help the American people”. But it is that very “process” which has yielded all of the lies, the special union exemptions, the kickbacks and sweetheart deals, the "family planning services" funding, etc;. This scandalous and sleazy “process” is exactly what has outraged many of our fellow citizens. The backroom deals, earmarks and strategy sessions that are the “sausage making” part of legislating on capitol hill never should have been allowed to pollute the important issue of healthcare reform, especially when so much is at stake for so...

The far left purveyors of democrat statist big government have decided that nothing will stand in the way of their objective to bring the health insurance corporations crashing down with the passing of this tyrannical and overbearing legislation. The goal, stated many times by various players on the left, is to bring about a government-run single-payer system of socialized healthcare gradually, over a period of time: Only an option at first, but later intended to be the only option. Contained within these proposed bills is the framework that will cause this to happen. No amount of lies or spin will change what now nearly everyone believes. The leftist’s determination to “finally get it done this time” is the result of what the democrats...

What Happened to Global Warming?

John has a good response for you.

How can you possibly believe that the global temps dropping are the positive result of Kyoto and the like? Haven't countries like China completely ignored these preventive measures and because of their industrial growth have sent decades of unchecked pollution into the air recently?

Sen. John Kerry goes on record saying the temp retreat is the positive result of our economy slowing down, and then proceeds to call for more restrictions on our industry.

Unbelievably willful ignorance.
Potentially the most frightening scenario when it comes to Iran and nukes has to do with what we don’t know.

Many people think that Israel will be pushed to the brink and strike Iran’s known nuclear targets with or without the US.

The possibility of success in eliminating the
immediate threat militarily may be of a high percentage, but what comes after that?

Can we even fathom the doomsday scenario that could result from a counter strike on Israel by any one of their many rogue sattelites who operate in the countries that surround them?

Could anyone with certainty believe that such a counter strike wouldn’t involve nuclear
or biological weapons of mass destruction?

And the feeble attempts at...
