maybe someone can explain to me why the "conservative position" is to take away the rights of the individual. It is true that I am more north than left or right. The only people that I know of who have abortions are the poor catholic girls in my church who are too afraid of their parents to tell them they are pregnant. I have been to a lot of republican women's meetings where 70 somethings are all bent out of shape over abortions. I am a 47 year old mother of a two year old, so I have had to think about my value system in a way that not many others have. Enlighten me as to why the state should have the power to decide who has an abortion, rather than the individuals involved.

By the way, if Mrs Dahmer of the 21st Century wants to have an abortion, I would not want to stop her. As a tax payer I would not consider her abortion procedure a waste of public funds.

Abolishing the reproductive rights of individuals would be a great mistake. The government that has the right to deny abortions also has the right to sanction abortions. It is imperative to keep reproductive rights in the hands of individuals. If reproductive rights belong to the state, there will be no more babies born to welfare mothers, nor there will be any disabled children born to burden the state coffers.
