God gives you gifts--its up to you to develop them. There are plenty of Michael Jordan's out there who simply lack the encouragment or enthusiam to be the best they can and become the next M.J. BTW Phi Beta Kappa is a society not a degree--they do not confer degrees on anyone.

WoW! I stand corrected! I've lived on the East Coast all my life so have not had any contact with native Americans except through reading newspapers, magazines, and watching TV. I understood most of them were still on reservations in the West.

Most of us know that PBK is a society and not a degree, But most of us interpreted Robt's statement to mean measure of achievement; you know, like saying someone is a Michael Jordan! I disagree with Robt.'s statement because I do know Native Americans with PhD's in Science and in Mathematics, and who also were members of PBK.

Anyone who has followed the decades-long controversies over the role of genes in IQ scores will recognize the names of the two leading advocates of opposite conclusions on that subject-- Professor Arthur R. Jensen of the University of California at Berkeley and Professor James R. Flynn, an American expatriate at the University of Otago in New Zealand.

What is so unusual in the academic world of today is that Professor Flynn's latest book, "Are We Getting Smarter?" is dedicated to Arthur Jensen, whose integrity he praises, even as he opposes his conclusions. That is what scholarship and science are...
