As H.L. Mencken observed: 'Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.'"

What The Debates Taught Us

It just occurred to me that Obama's October surprise has been has been somewhat like Lt. General Charles Cornwallis' experience in the south during the American Revolution. The first debate was Obama's Battle of the Cowpen's --a complete collapse brought on by over confidence in the face of a competent and skillful opponent. In the second debate Obama won on points like Cornwallis' won the Battle of Guilford Court House. Obama had at that point shot his wad and burned up his supply train. His all in effort was a Pyrrhic victory. "Another such victory would ruin" Obama. Sure enough he turned in a snaky UN-presidential performance in the third debate winning on points and loosing strategic ground.
All the Obama team has left is small ball...

De-Bushing Romney

Jonah, we have a choice to make. We can go all Tea Partyish or win this Presidential Race and the Congressional seats that go with it. We cannot do both.
Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practise to deceive! Sir Walter Scott It now turns out that Liz's ancestor did participate in the Trail of Tears as part of the Tennessee militia who enforced Democrat Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act, ousted the Cherokees and sent them on their Trail of Tears. The Cherokee Trail of Tears was one of the saddest chapters in American history perpetrated by Pres. Andrew Jackson, darling of Democrats to this day. Jackson famously defied the Supreme court to removed the "civilized" Cherokee tribe from heir well developed farm land so he could redistribute the wealth the Cherokee had built to Jackson's white friends. Now Warren has been caught in her own web.
In taking a swipe at Romney's religion both the Governor and O'Donnell got their facts mixed up . Had they cared at all about the truth (apparently Obama surrogates do not) , they would have read this Smithsonian article which gets it right: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/travel/The-Romneys-Mexican-History.html George Romney at age five fled Colonia Juárez with his family to avoid the predation of Poncho Villa. Colonia Juárez is near the Sierra Madre mountains were Geranimo was raised. His grand father by the way, had just one wife. The governor should have said Romney's great grand father was a polygamist.
