I was very frustrated when the contraception mandate was more of a hot-button topic. As the talking heads argued either for or against the mandate, they always specified whether it was acceptable to issue the mandate to a religious institution. Implied in that argument was that it is acceptable for the government to issue mandates to secular institutions. Now we see this matter being played out. I will take it further. By what authority does the government require any employer to provide insurance to their employees at all? Employment is a contract between two private parties. As long as the terms of that contract does not violate the rights of others, the government has no say on the terms what-so-ever.

Whatever happened to the constitution? The rule of law? Ever since Obama became President, he seems to be 9/10ths of the law.

It goes back a lot further than Obama to the first progressive Lincoln and his war of aggression on the Southern States

Lincoln was not a Progressive. He did not believe in rule by technocrats, who "knew better" than the People how they should live their lives. Remember, "government of the People, by the People, for the People"!

And it was the war of Southern Aggression. The Confederate forces fired the first shots, on Ft. Sumter. (It's not as if the Fort was attacking anyone, or advancing on the city of Charleston...)

Insurance mandates should be scrapped.

Minimum wage laws; scrapped.

Internship laws; scrapped.

The list could go on.

I Agree!!!!!!! The governments only concern should be fraudulent behavior by either party

And also safety concerns: OSHA, etc. Employers should not be able to risk their employees' health and safety "as a condition of employment".

William, Paul and James Newland and their sister, Christine Ketterhagen, who together own Hercules Industries, have no right to conduct their family business in a manner that comports with their Catholic faith.

The federal government can and will compel them to either surrender their business or to engage in activities the Catholic faith teaches are intrinsically immoral.

This is exactly what President Barack Obama's Justice Department told a U.S. district court in a formal filing last week.

Never before has an administration taken such a bold step to strip Americans of the freedom of conscience -- a...
