I was with Brian Williams in New Orleans during Katrina. While he was there, he fasted forty days and forty nights, watched dead victims of GW Bush's inept FEMA float by on a flooded street, he rescued a baby from a rogue crocodile that had been washed up by the flood into the French Quarter, and he did it all while looking into the camera with nary a hair falling out of place. No wonder they suspended him; Brian Williams is just too good for the evening news. Brian Williams / Hillary Clinton 2016!

Again, the quote attributed to Aquinas: "Theology is the queen of the sciences, philosophy her handmaiden."

Actually, you're agreeing with Aquinas, but I think you and I agree with each other.

"is anyone else having that problem, or is it just me?" Apparently, it's you - or your anti-virus program.

"Belief in a supernatural power is a matter of faith," Belief in all things which preceded us and belief in anything which we did not personally witness or test is a matter of faith. Since the exercise of faith is part of much of our belief systems, why is there such disdain for faith in God?
"The debate is about which citizens are eligible for govt recognition." If only that were the truth. The real debate is about redefining marriage and redefining the rule of law. When judges in a representative republic are able to make new law without any recourse by the electorate, we are becoming Europe-West, not the U.S.A.

"Citing a supernatural cause for anything is simply a cop out" Actually, positing and accepting the notion of a "Multiverse" (interesting how you capitalized it) rather than accepting that there is a Creator --- that's a real cop out.

"Theology is queen of the sciences, philosophy her handmaiden." - Aquinas I love all the sciences, especially the science of theology. If I lacked any training or understanding in the science of theology, I am convinced that I would find it difficult to properly investigate, hypothesize, and gain understanding of the physical sciences. I regularly see this difficulty manifest in comments and writings from people who have a lacuna in their education related to the science of theology. The existence of the supernatural is undeniable for those with an open mind. The study of the science of theology is the key to having understanding and an open mind.

Actually, good liberals used to exist in the 1950s and 1960s. They fought for civil rights, they fought against communism, and they believed in individual freedom. Those good liberals are now Republicans. You're right, if will is not a Republican he is not a good liberal - he is a leftist, a racist, a bigot, and an Obama Democrat.

In retrospect (50-year-hindsight is always 20/20), it would have been better if the people in each community or school district had been given the opportunity to vote on whether or not to allow prayer in their local schools, rather than having unelected, unaccountable judges decide it for us. Maybe if we still allowed prayer in school, our children and our society would be more morally centered and less narcissistic. (repeat alert: just want to remove the spam from the top comment spot)
The Red part of that map recognizes that Democratic leadership is an unmitigated disaster. The Blue part of that map would probably be receptive if a true leader somehow were to rise from the weeds of the GOP. Until the Blues have a substantial and conservative leader to follow, our country will continue to "sing the blues."
