You Aren't Bipolar, You're Just a Jerk!

I had an employee tell me that he had a brain tumor. Management gave him a couple days off to see doctors. We asked him for paperwork so we could approve his time under FMLA leave. After a week, he quit. Turned out he did not have a brain tumor. Using Mike's logic, I must conclude that all people who have brain tumors are just using it as an excuse to take time off.

Yes, there are people who take advantage of diagnoses. Mike made the mistake of concluding that because some unjustifiably excuse bad behavior, all who are diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder must do so.

Mikes advice may work for those who have mild symptoms of depression. It will not work for those who truly have clinical depression or Bipolar Disorder....
