The 2nd amendment is in case politicians ignore the others. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not under stand?

SCOTUS has ruled over many years that the federal government, or the states, cannot pass laws that unduly inhibit our ability to exercise our rights as listed in the bill of rights. The key words are "unduly inhibit". And we are not just talking about the second amendment. SCOTUS has ruled in the cases from Chicago and Washington D.C., concerning gun rights, and will rule on others (New York will probably be there) . This is how our rights (all of our rights) are protected. I have no doubt that the reference to "assault rifles" will be part of the review and will be upheld. Stay tuned.
