We also need to regain power in the House and when I say we I mean Conservatives, whether it be fiscal or social. Mitt and the GOP really don't need us as much as Rick needed us and our Congressional candidates need us. They will be just fine for the most part but what will continue to hurt us is beating up on Mitt. The battle is over and we need to act like Mitt is the French and join our forces to defeat our common enemy, "Obama" and his cronies. If we don't the DNC will take advantage of our weakness and take us down. To be honest, we will have deserved it.

The Giants ear is bent and I'm sure we will be seeing the fruits of our labors in the near future. Now I believe staying attached to that battle is a waste of time, energy and resources as many obviously agree. Like I said in my blog back on April 17th "The Battle is Over but the War is Still On". In the art of war you have to choose your battles wisely and staying attached to a battle that's obviously over is counter productive, “The war is not over but the battle is and we can’t fight a battle without a General.” I believe that our next big battle and if not bigger is the Congressional races. We need to regain power of the Senate or it almost doesn't matter who gets or stays in the White House.

I spent a few years thinking we needed to get the politics out of politics and now realize that is impossible. That would be like trying to take the wet out of water; not going to happen anytime soon. I had to remember that these are politicians and they have a game and a code of rules that they live by. I am not compromising my values, I'm not surrendering to the enemy and I'm sure not betraying Rick by saying that I understand that Mitt was the choice and he still is the choice. Rick has obviously respected that and I wouldn't be surprised if he is groomed to be next in line. I am convinced that at this stage of the game we accomplished more than the impossible and our voices have been heard.

But when I heard that he suspended his campaign I was devastated; as many were. I went through my grieving process and prayed for guidance and comfort. After a few days I started to make some sense out of it all. Especially watching Ricks interviews after leaving the race. This was and is my thoughts. Mitt was chosen by the RNC to be the nominee back in 2008 and that would mean full support no matter what. Rick did something miraculous and woke up the people in this country and started a movement. His campaign did such a great job that the movement is still alive. I realized and trusted that Rick knows how to play politics and that he was making the best possible decision for him, his family and for us.

That Candidate was Rick Santorum and this was after a lengthy vetting process. I joined his campaign as a volunteer back in the beginning of January, actually the night of the Iowa Caucus. I did everything I could for the campaign here in Florida and Nationally. I knew that Mitt Romney was the establishment RNC's choice and he was not my choice. So I wanted to do whatever I could to make sure that Giants ear heard my voice and everyone else who didn't choose Mitt. I worked in a blind furry as many of us did; trying to make sure we could win as many States and Delegates as we could by August. My intention of course were for Rick to be the nominee and to be the next President.

I took that very seriously and got actively involved in this Presidential Primary cycle. I began back in April of 2011 and wasn't sure where this was going to lead me. I began vetting the Candidates and networking with like minded people that were political activists. I knew that the Primaries were the time for us "we the people" to work hard to be heard. I picture the RNC as the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk and "we the people" as Jack. How are we going to get that big ol giants ear to hear our puny voices. Well, one way that I know is by the numbers. The more we can change the outcome of what they expected to come easily the more the giants ear would hear us. So when I finally chose the Candidate to support I through my all into it.

I am fairly new to the political arena, especially to the degree that I am involved now. You can read more here http://thewingnutexpress.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/from-moonbat-to-wingnut/. This was my first Presidential election that I got actively involved during the Primary process and this is what I understand so far, please correct me if I'm wrong. The Primaries are when "we the people" get a chance to be heard and Candidates not "chosen" by the establishment get a chance to prove themselves as worthy to be taken seriously. I knew that this election was one of great importance for our Nation and could determine our course into oblivion as the Republic it was founded as.

Steve, great article and I especially liked your summary of the three different camps. But did you purposely leave out the camp of Ron Paul supporters? They definitely get their own island. One thing I would like to point out though is we the people spoke and no matter what any of us thing the GOP is an established organized force that is more power then many of us might want to admit. I think there is wisdom in knowing what battles to fight and what battles not to fight. I will describe more of my thoughts on the next post because there is obviously a limit per post, lol.
