The success of the modern environmental movement is a perfect example of the demise of critical thinking in this country. We are committing suicide by destroying our industrial base for fear of bending a blade of grass. The fact that the earth has repaired itself after early 20th century industrialization escapes the greenies notice or it just doesn’t matter. It’s all about control without responsibility, authority without accountability and tyranny without resentment. It’s appalling how successful they are.

1.The modern environmental movement is successful in regulating industry out of the U.S. and into China, damaging our energy production, indoctrinating our children into believing global warming BS and stetting federal policy and regulation.
2.The factories of the industrial east are either completely obliterated or overgrown with “nature” Our air is breathable, our water drinkable and the environment is lousy with trees.
3.Control without responsibility is the ability to regulate everything unchecked and at will and never have to answer for the destructive consequences.

Apparently, niles, you ONLY read the bullshitt put out by leftist sites ... did you know the gulf spill was almost entirely consumed by bacteria in the gulf? THAT'S the kind of self-repair that Sean is talking about. You want natural repair? Look at the areas devastated by the eruption of Mt. St. Helens now a couple decades later!

The question is, dweeb, how can you sit there banging away on your trusty keyboard and either be unaware of these facts or worse, deny them? Sounds like every other garden variety of enviro-FANATIC niles!

The human brain is torn between simple intuition and the more complex hard work of figuring out the unintended consequences of any policy. Who doesn't like thinking about trees and greenery and happy animals? Who doesn't want to see steps taken to protect those things, all else being equal? But all else is not equal. Civilization doesn't work when central planners treat each tree as if its value is infinite.

Politicians specialize in convincing you that, with their help, you can have your cake and eat it, too. The idea of a new "green economy" that is both clean and rich...
