I have been a longtime shooter/ reloader for over 40 years. Having owned many forms of semi automatic military styled rifles for decades, I also regularly go to gun shows here in Florida and did back in my homestate of Missouri.For about 12 years I legally owned a submachine gun wiith silencer. Only a few of my closest friends are avid shooters but have an interest in firearms. Even those who do not own guns seem to be offended at the very thought of having their Second Amendment rights infringed. I also have colleagues and friends who are outraged at the thought of not being able to own the firearm of their choice. I agree

The gun control controversy is only the latest of many issues to be debated almost solely in terms of fixed preconceptions, with little or no examination of hard facts.

Media discussions of gun control are dominated by two factors: the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment. But the over-riding factual question is whether gun control laws actually reduce gun crimes in general or murder rates in particular.
